Snapshot of the Week
Forest School – Autumn Adventures!
This week it really feels like autumn has arrived at Forest School! The children have been busy exploring the changing season, investigating the weather, getting creative and enjoying some wonderful hands-on experiences.
Nursery have enjoyed The Highway Rat, getting creative with mud painting and making their own chalk paint. They also experienced their first fire of the year, learning how to stay safe around the fire and the importance of listening carefully to safety instructions.
Years 1, 4, 5 and 6 have enjoyed special visits to our local orchard group, where they had the opportunity to get involved in apple pressing. The children loved seeing the whole process and watching the apples transform into delicious fresh juice.
We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful connection with our orchard community, which provides our children with these enriching, hands-on experiences. A huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who have given their time and helped make our orchard trips possible. We really appreciate everything you do to support our children and their learning.
Years 2 and Wrens have continued their exploration of autumn and autumnal weather. they have been investigating the conditions around them, using anemometers to measure wind speed and thermometers to measure temperature.
Forest School
Year 3 have been exploring the water cycle and took their learning one step further by creating their very own water cycle song and dance! A fantastic way to bring science to life through creativity and movement.
It has been another wonderful week of curiosity, creativity, teamwork and outdoor learning.
Forest School is certainly embracing autumn! 🍂
Donations
We are always looking for ways to enhance our Forest School provision and would be very grateful for any donations of natural or reusable materials that families may have available.
In particular, we are currently looking for:
🪵 Lightweight pallets
📦 Pallet crates or wooden crates
🌲 Pinecones
🌰 Conkers
🍂 Other natural treasures that could be used for exploring, creating and learning outdoors.
These materials will be used by the children for building, imaginative play, den making, natural art, investigations and Forest School challenges.
If you have anything you think might be useful, please send it into school or speak Admin.
Thank you for helping us make our Forest School space a wonderful place to explore, create and connect with nature!
School Admissions
We warmly invite prospective parents and families to attend our Open Mornings on Wednesday 14th October and Wednesday 18th November from 9.30 – 11am. This is a wonderful opportunity to look around the school, meet our staff, and gain a real insight into school life. Our Year 6 Directors will be leading guided tours, while members of staff will be available throughout the morning to answer any questions you may have. We particularly welcome parents of children starting Reception in September 2027, as well as families considering transferring into other year groups. Parents are welcome to attend on their own or bring their child along if they wish. Please spread the word to family and friends.
