Snap Shot of the Week

What a magical snow day it’s been! The children wrapped up warm and headed outside to make the most of the fresh snowfall, building cheerful snowmen, getting creative with snowy sculptures, and even helping to clear the snow using the digger. Laughter filled the playground as imaginations ran wild and teamwork was everywhere you looked. The fun didn’t stop with the children either — staff eagerly joined in, making it a truly memorable day of shared joy, winter wonder, and outdoor adventure. ❄️⛄

Snow Day!

Colwall Special Educational Needs

At Colwall CofE Primary School & Nursery, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is provided with a high-quality, inclusive education that meets their individual needs. Our approach is rooted in early identification, personalised support, and strong partnership working. We adopt a graduated response to SEND in line with the SEND Code of Practice, ensuring that pupils receive targeted support through adapted teaching, tailored interventions, and, where appropriate, access to additional adult support. We regularly review individual needs and plans through the Assess-Plan-Do-Review cycle, involving parents, pupils and, when required, external specialists to ensure progress and wellbeing.

We work closely with Herefordshire’s SEND Local Offer, which is a comprehensive directory of support, services and information for children and young people with SEND from birth to age 25, including education, health, care, leisure activities and family support services, all designed to help families access the right support at the right time. Families can explore this offer at: Advice and support for parents and carers of children with SEND – Herefordshire Council

In addition, we signpost parents and carers to specialist services such as the Herefordshire and Worcestershire SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIASS), which provides free, impartial, confidential advice and support on all matters relating to SEND (email: sendiass@herefordshire.gov.uk, Tel: 01432 260955). Further support is available via Herefordshire Early Help services, Children’s Help and Advice Team (CHAT), and health-related support through CAMHS and local therapy services. These partnerships help ensure that pupils with SEND and their families receive coordinated educational, health and social care support throughout their time with us and into future phases of learning.
