Clubs – After school clubs will commence on Monday 14th September. You will be informed by email if your child has been allocated a place on their chosen clubs
School Photographs – Our school photographer will be coming in on Tuesday. Please send children to school wearing correct school uniform. If it is a PE or Forest School day, please send them in uniform with their PE or Forest School Kit in a bag to change into at school.
If your child is at nursery but does not attend on a Tuesday, you are welcome to bring them to the school hall at 8.30am to have their picture taken. Similarly, if you have a younger sibling who is not yet in school or nursery and you would like a photograph of them with your school child, please bring them to the school hall at 8.30am
School Uniform – Colwall School uniform is available to purchase from the school uniform shop in Ledbury.

School Lunches – Please remember to book school lunches (using MCAS) by Midnight on Wednesday, for the following week’s lunches.
Nut free school- We are a nut free school. Please do not send in NUTS or NUT PRODUCTS. We also ask that you do not send in KIWI or sesame seed products including HUMMUS
Help – Help needed from parent with assembling 2 shelving units for our outside classroom. Please let us know if you are able to assist.

Snapshot of the Week

Welcome back!

We have had a marvellous week in Forest School, with every year group embracing the opportunity to explore, learn and grow outdoors. Although each class has enjoyed different activities, there have been some wonderful common themes running throughout the week.

We have been focusing on establishing and reinforcing boundaries and safety, helping children understand how we can explore our Forest School site safely and confidently. We have also been connecting our Forest School experiences with our school values of courage, curiosity and trust.

Across the school, children have been developing their responsibility and leadership skills, building an awareness of how we can care for our environment and becoming increasingly confident in working together. Forest School has also provided opportunities to strengthen community, relationships and teamwork, with children supporting and learning from one another.

What have the children been learning?

Nursery
Our youngest explorers have been getting to know the Forest School site, developing confidence through obstacle courses and beginning their Forest School adventures with The Gruffalo. They have been encouraged to explore with curiosity and courage.

Wrens
Reception have been learning about our Forest School boundaries and how to explore the site safely. They have been developing their confidence and understanding of how we look after ourselves and others outdoors.

Year 1
Year 1 have been developing their understanding of boundaries and beginning to map and explore the Forest School space. They have been learning how to navigate their environment safely and confidently.

Year 2
Year 2 have been reinforcing their knowledge of Forest School boundaries and taking on responsibility by working together to make dens and teepees.

Forest School

Year 3
Year 3 have been focusing on Team Work and looking after each other and exploring their natural environment.

Year 4
Year 4 have been developing their understanding of risk assessment, considering how we can manage risks while still enjoying challenge and adventure. They have also begun taking on mentoring roles and supporting others by creating some short videos.

Year 5
Year 5 have been developing their environmental leadership skills, thinking about how the site can be managed and cared for sustainably. They are beginning to take greater ownership of their Forest School environment.

Year 6
Our Year 6 children have been stepping into overall leadership roles, thinking about their responsibilities as the oldest pupils and beginning to consider the legacy they can leave for future Forest School learners.

Growing together

It has been wonderful to see how Forest School develops alongside the children as they move through the school. From our youngest children learning how to explore safely, to our oldest pupils taking on leadership and stewardship roles, everyone has an important part to play.

We are looking forward to another year of adventure, curiosity, courage, trust and connection with nature!

Cello

We were very pleased to welcome our new Cello teacher this week. She will be teaching Cello on Friday mornings. She still has a couple of spaces left. If your child is in years 3-6 and is interest in learning the cello, please contact the school office.

Woodwind

We are also pleased to announce that we will be having a new Woodwind teacher joining us on Mondays. She is offering free taster sessions on Monday 14th September. Please contact Elizabeth Bennett directly or email the office if your child is in year 3-6 and would like to take part.
