Snap Shot of the Week

This week we have started looking at shapes in maths! In this lesson, we learnt that 2D shapes with straight sides are called polygons. The children had a go at identifying different polygons by counting the number of sides and then used lollypop sticks to have a go at making their own!

Year 4 fully embraced science day on Monday and spent the afternoon predicting if a circuit would light a bulb or not. They then tested the circuits and understood how to create a complete circuit.  We had lots of challenges during our testing identifying the faults in the circuit or in the equipment, but all of the children were successful in creating a complete circuit that lit their bulb.

This week, Year 6 were experimenting with screen printing.  They made stencils out of paper then spread acrylic ink through gauze to print their designs.  Next week, they’ll apply their new skills to create a poster.

Snap Shot of the WeekColwall Youth Choir

Last Saturday the Colwall Youth Choir, consisting of both current and former Colwall pupils and led by the wonderful Mrs Hardwick, competed in the prestigious WCAF Music Festival. They performed 2 songs and wowed the judges with their exceptional harmonies, engaging choreography, and powerful delivery. Their hard work and dedication paid off as they were awarded first place in their class. This achievement highlights the talent and spirit of the children, and the choir’s success is a testament to the passion and commitment of everyone involved. Congratulations to the choir on their outstanding performance!
