Snapshot of the Week

Our Year 6 pupils have been busy rehearsing for their upcoming production of Newsies, and excitement is certainly building! From learning lines to perfecting songs and choreography, everyone has been working incredibly hard, and it promises to be a fantastic show. We can’t wait to see them take to the stage next week! Despite last week’s soaring temperatures, Year 6 also found some inventive ways to keep cool in the classroom while continuing with their learning. They also successfully completed their Bikeability sessions, where they developed their cycling skills and learned how to stay safe on the roads. The children had a fantastic time and should be very proud of all they achieved.

Some of our Year 5 pupils recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the Poetry Slam at John Masefield High School, and what a fantastic evening it was!

Our children performed with confidence, enthusiasm, and creativity, sharing their poetry alongside pupils from other local schools. The standard of performances throughout the evening was incredibly high, with so many talented young poets taking to the stage. It was wonderful to see everyone encouraging and celebrating one another.

We are extremely proud of our Year 5 pupils for representing our school so brilliantly. Their hard work, courage, and passion for poetry shone through in their performances.

Snapshot of the Week

In Forest School this week, Goldfinches and Wrens enjoyed taking their learning in our outside classroom and enjoyed doing still life drawings. The children carefully observed a selection of natural objects, paying close attention to shapes, textures, and details to produce their artwork. They showed great concentration, creativity, and perseverance, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they explored different drawing techniques in the fresh air. We are very proud of their fantastic artistic efforts!

This week, Year 6 took part in a fascinating activity as they dissected owl pellets to learn more about food chains and the diets of birds of prey. Working carefully like scientists, the children examined the pellets to discover the tiny bones and remains of the owl’s prey. They identified different bones, made observations, and discussed what their findings revealed about the owl’s eating habits. The activity was both engaging and educational, helping to bring their science learning to life while developing their investigative skills. Thank you to COG for delivering such an exciting afternoon of activities.
