Snapshot of the Week

Forest School – Welcoming Autumn!

This week in Forest School, we have been enjoying the arrival of autumn! The changing season has given us lots of opportunities to explore, investigate and notice the wonderful changes happening around us.

Nursery have continued to explore and discover our Forest School site. They have enjoyed making marks in the dry mud on the hill, creating their own wind sticks, searching for minibeasts and climbing and exploring the hill. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and confidence growing as they become more familiar with their outdoor surroundings.

Year 1 have been exploring autumnal weather, using thermometers around the Forest School site to investigate temperature and noticing how the weather is beginning to change.

Year 2 have been welcoming autumn by comparing summer and autumn. They have been thinking about the changes they can see, feel and hear as one season moves into another.

Wrens and Year 2 have also enjoyed a very special visit to the orchards. The children were able to use both the press and scratter to make beautiful fresh apple juice. They loved getting involved in the process and watching the apples transform from apples into juice!

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a close relationship with Colwall Orchard Group, which enables our children to enjoy these enriching, hands-on experiences and develop a deeper connection with the natural world around them.

Forest School

A huge thank you to everyone who helps make these opportunities possible and the parent volunteers that have come with us.

Autumn has certainly arrived at Forest School – and we can’t wait to see what it brings!

Donations

We are always looking for ways to enhance our Forest School provision and would be very grateful for any donations of natural or reusable materials that families may have available.

In particular, we are currently looking for:

🪵 Lightweight pallets
📦 Pallet crates or wooden crates
🌲 Pinecones
🌰 Conkers
🍂 Other natural treasures that could be used for exploring, creating and learning outdoors.

These materials will be used by the children for building, imaginative play, den making, natural art, investigations and Forest School challenges.

If you have anything you think might be useful, please send it into school or speak Admin.

Thank you for helping us make our Forest School space a wonderful place to explore, create and connect with nature!

Call of the Wild

School Admissions

We warmly invite prospective parents and families to attend our Open Mornings on Wednesday 14th October and Wednesday 18th November from 9.30 – 11am. This is a wonderful opportunity to look around the school, meet our staff, and gain a real insight into school life. Our Year 6 Directors will be leading guided tours, while members of staff will be available throughout the morning to answer any questions you may have. We particularly welcome parents of children starting Reception in September 2027, as well as families considering transferring into other year groups. Parents are welcome to attend on their own or bring their child along if they wish. Please spread the word to family and friends.
