This week, our school community came together to mark Remembrance Day with respect and gratitude. Students who are members of the Scouting and Girl Guiding community proudly wore their uniforms, and we sold poppies both in school and on the plaza to support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Thank you to everyone who contributed so generously.
This week in the Nest we focused on Bonfire Night. The children made fire work paintings, did firework dancing and sang ‘London’s Burning’.
Whilst walking to the Orchard, year 5 collected oak apples to make ink in their forest school lesson. This week we ground them and boiled them over the campfire. We are looking forward to using the ink with the quills we make next week.
This week in Year 5, we got the Virtual Reality headsets out and transported ourselves back in time to look at a Roman Villa and Colosseum! The children loved being able to see inside the world of the Romans.
We were very pleased to announce our new Year 6 Directors for the Autumn term. They are all very enthusiastic and full of ideas. We are sure they will make a great contribution to the school.
Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic time on their residential this week! From adventurous activities like gorge walking, rock climbing and caving, to evenings around the campfire, the children showed courage, teamwork and plenty of smiles.
Today we had Reverend Melanie come into Year 6 to help us write prayers about compassion and perseverance.
It has been so lovely to see the familiar faces returning to our Nest family. It has also been so wonderful to welcome some new fledglings into the Nest.
Our Leavers’ Service at the church was a truly special and emotional occasion. Year 6 led the way with heartfelt speeches, sharing memories, gratitude, and hopes for the future.
